Vodacom Battery Solutions

We are delighted to collaborate with Vodacom South Africa to drive innovation and security excellence in the telecommunications industry, which is why it was an absolute pleasure to host the esteemed team from Vodacom at our production facility in Durban recently. We were honoured to welcome Beverly Ngwenya (Technology Director), Sitholizwe Mdlalose (CEO), Refilwe Nkabinde (Executive Director: Finance)and Mpumelelo Khumalo (Executive Regions)  and give them a behind-the-scenes look at what we do.

Keeping reliable communications networks up and running during frequent and increasingly longer power outages across South Africa is essential for business and daily life to continue. Vandalism and theft of these backup systems means that communication is further disrupted and that costs for telecommunications businesses skyrocket. Tailoring backup power systems and the security to prevent theft and vandalism of batteries is how we help Vodacom find innovative, effective and robust solutions.

We were proud to show our guests how our standby.li MST lineup is revolutionising energy supply, battery longevity, maintenance, and security protocols, directly addressing the challenges Vodacom currently faces. Better, more reliable batteries mean less downtime in the communications network.

At maxwell+spark, our solutions are constantly evolving and improving, so a standout moment was our demonstration of the advancements we’re exploring for secure.li, our High Security Battery Cabinet, to fortify its robustness against breaches. Witnessing materials designed to withstand angle grinder attacks – including standard steel, MMC (Metal Matrix composite), and our ferrous composite – truly showcased our commitment to top-tier security and drive to keep improving, even when our cabinets have an excellent performance track-record.

We also showcased the integration of our MST 1800 battery solution within the HSBC, coupled with an external alarm system designed to streamline security response. This system not only minimises false alarms but also ensures timely dispatch of security teams when needed most.

We’re playing our part in helping solve South African problems and we’re proud to partner with Vodacom to do it. Here’s to forging stronger, safer solutions for a connected and empowered future!
