While maxwell+spark has grown globally, our roots remain in South Africa – embedded in the soil of the talents, skills, energy and tenacity of its people. One of our concerns is youth unemployment, which stands at nearly 45,5%, according to Statistics South Africa (as in the first quarter of 2024). At maxwell+spark, we recognize the importance of tackling this issue head-on by providing opportunities for young people to gain meaningful work experience and skills that equip them for the future.
In June 2023, we partnered with New Bridge Academy to sponsor four candidates for a 12-month Business Administration Learnership at maxwell+spark. The goal? To provide these young individuals with hands-on experience in business administration while immersing them in a real-world work environment.
Fast forward to July 2024, and we’re thrilled to announce that two of those learners, Bulelwa Maluleka and Samukelo Lukhozi, have secured permanent roles within the company.
Bulelwa excelled in her support roles in Finance and HR, taking on key responsibilities such as coordinating onboarding and managing internal operations. She has now progressed to the role of Receptionist and Office Administrator, where she continues to thrive.
Samukelo began in the Aftersales Department, where he eagerly took on health and safety tasks. His dedication and growing expertise led to his promotion as Health and Safety Officer, a crucial role in maintaining team well-being.
Their stories are a testament to the power of opportunity and mentorship. We are proud to have played a part in their growth and look forward to their continued contributions to maxwell+spark.
