What’s it REALLY like driving a refrigerated truck powered by our diesel-free advantage.li unit?
One of our team members joined a DistriFresh B.V. driver for the day to find out. The day began well before sunrise, at 02:00, when the rest of us were still fast asleep and hadn’t thought about whether we remembered milk for our breakfast cereal or the sliced ham for our children’s sandwiches.
The mission: 8 stops, one tight delivery schedule, and a constant setpoint of 1–2°C to keep the perishable goods fresh, with emission-free cooling of course. All of which means that when we pop in to the supermarket, we have access to fresh, safe and nutritious foods without giving it a second thought.
So, what stood out on the drive?
✅ Silent operation – No rumbling diesel. Just calm, efficient cooling. The driver told us how much more pleasant it makes his working hours and how, on long routes, a nap is much easier without the constant churn of a diesel engine.
✅ Zero emissions on the road – The unit pre-cooled overnight using clean grid power, meaning the driver set off with a chilled, emissions-free truck.
✅ Reliable temperature stability – Even at the longest stop, the battery-powered unit never let the temp rise above 2°C. The driver also pointed out that the temperature set point is reached more efficiently and much quicker with the advantage.li system: between 10-15 minutes as opposed to half an hour.
✅ Smart power use – Cooling only when needed, saving energy and stretching the battery all day long.
✅ No compromise, just comfort – Cleaner, quieter, simpler. For drivers, for urban residents still fast asleep as the delivery takes place right outside their window, and, of course, for our planet!
