What are you really buying when you buy a forklift battery?
In our latest FORKLIFTACTION article, we ask a lot of questions. As lithium-ion becomes more widely available, it’s getting easier to compare price, capacity and specification, but not everything that counts can fit on a spec comparison table.
The harder things to compare often turn out to matter more, like:
-Who understands the application before the battery is specified?
-Who spots the infrastructure constraint before it becomes a problem?
-Who answers the phone when something goes wrong?
-And who will still understand your operation seven years later?
One of our oldest motive.li batteries in a high-utilisation South African distribution centre has now passed 5,000 cycles and still retains more than 80% of its original capacity.
That’s strong technical proof, but the bigger story is what had to happen around the battery to make those seven years possible.
As Head of Sales motive.li (Africa) Dale Rosewall puts it: “I don’t just sell a battery. I sell the company, I sell the service backup and I sell the people.”
Perhaps the buying question shouldn’t simply be: What battery am I buying? But: Who am I buying it from?
